The 2016 Democratic National Convention will take place in Philadelphia from July 25th to the 28th. The 5th Congressional District Information Session will take place on December 12, 1-3 pm at Water View Village Apartments,1296 Worcester Rd. (Rt 9), Framingham. It is on the ground floor. Please follow signs to leasing office and is parking available by the leasing office. Massachusetts will send 116 Delegates and 8 Alternates to the Philadelphia Convention. The District-level caucus in the 5th CD will take place on April 9 at a location to be determined. Three male delegates, four female delegates and one female alternate will be elected, divided proportionately among the candidates receiving more that 15% of the vote in the March 1 primary. Each campaign will caucus separately. Those wishing to run for Delegate or Alternate must file notification of their intention to run, and pledge of support to a candidate between Jan 18 and Mar 14. The Presidential campaigns have the right to reject any candidate if they so desire. The Democratic State Committee will elect the At-large and Party Leader/Elected Official Delegates at its meeting on May 7, 2016. The recommendations of the DNC's Democratic Victory Task Force have been released. The Action Plan focuses on ensuring the mechanisms to:

  • Develop and disseminate a clear, values-based message on the core tenets of the Party
  • Emphasize and strengthen national and state party partnerships and data sharing
  • Protect and expand every American's right to vote
  • Implement a 3-cycle strategy for redistricting
  • Build a bench of strong candidates equipped to compete at every level
